Rooted in history 1Beatrice-228

The Paddock Hotel was first built by U.S. Senator Algernon S. Paddock in 1887, and then rebuilt in 1924. For decades, The Paddock served as the elegant hub of Beatrice society. Placed on the National Register of Historic Places, The Paddock was lovingly restored as The Kensington in 1989.

Serving our families today

The Kensington is conveniently located at the main intersection in downtown Beatrice, just minutes from shopping, theaters, pharmacies, banks and restaurants.

BeaCalAug62-228The original tiled floors and graceful lobby columns create a spacious and inviting living room. The second floor ballroom still hosts numerous community events, reminiscent of the building’s glorious past. And the large sun room is the perfect place to enjoy a visit, game of cards or just people-watch on the corner of mainstreet Beatrice.

Our family room features a pool table, game tables, computer and large screen TV, and it’s big enough to accommodate birthday parties, bridal showers, and other family gatherings.

New families are welcomed with a special dinner, and invited to participate in our Heart to Heart program. Family Traditions events are planned throughout the year, including the annual mother-daughter tea, summer picnic, and Thanksgiving dinner.

These and other family services provide fellowship and support, as well as special occasions for loved ones to enjoy good times together.

Residents have many opportunities to participate in meaningful programs. There are fitness classes and Bible studies; fishing trips and joy rides; volunteer projects and a very successful Middle School partnership. In addition, there are parties, evening card games, holiday celebrations and a weekly Friday Afternoon Club social. All of them activities to challenge and engage the mind, body and spirit.

Many “bucket list” wishes have been granted too, from a hot air balloon ride to walking across the Missouri River on the Bob Kerrey pedestrian bridge in Omaha.

Personalized programs, family events, and staff devoted to making each day special… together these factors make life at The Kensington an experience to remember.
