Leadership at Evergreen
A Dickinson native, Director Darla Baranko discovered she wanted to work with older adults during a college internship at an assisted living residence in Fargo. Upon earning a BS degree in Human Development with a minor in Gerontology, she worked for a time at an Alzheimer’s care community in Bismarck. Darla moved back to Dickinson to join the Evergreen team in 1994, assuming the director’s position in 2007.
Darla is very passionate about caring for the seniors who live at Evergreen. It is personally rewarding for her to spend time with them – sharing a laugh, a grandchild’s letter, or even their heartaches. She is committed to making a positive difference in the life of every person encountered, be they resident, family member or co-worker. “You can learn so much from even the smallest amount of time spent with someone who needs companionship and love.”
